Why Chimney Cap Installation Matters
An uncapped flue is an open pipe pointed at the sky. Rain falls straight into the smoke shelf and damper, birds and squirrels build nests in it, and embers can land on the roof. A stainless steel cap with mesh sides solves all of that for a fraction of what any of those problems cost to fix.
We install stainless and copper caps sized to your flue, multi-flue caps for shared stacks, and full stainless chase covers for prefabricated chimneys. Galvanized caps and covers rust out and stain the brick — we do not use them.

How much does a chimney cap cost to install?
It depends on flue size, material and whether you need a single or multi-flue cap. Stainless single-flue caps are the most affordable option; custom multi-flue covers cost more. We give a written estimate after measuring.
How long does a stainless chimney cap last?
Quality stainless caps commonly last 20 years or more and often carry a lifetime warranty. Galvanized caps typically rust within a few years, which is why we do not install them.
Can a chimney cap stop downdrafts?
A well-designed cap reduces wind-driven downdrafts significantly. Persistent draft problems may also involve flue height or sizing, which we check during the assessment.
Do I need a cap on an unused chimney?
Especially then. An unused flue still collects rain, animals and debris, and nobody notices the damage because nobody is looking.
What is the difference between a cap and a chase cover?
A cap covers the flue opening. A chase cover is the large metal top covering an entire prefabricated chimney chase, and it is the part that commonly rusts through.
